SPAN 304: Introduction to Literature
Course Description:
Conducted in Spanish, the course introduces the principles of literary analysis, based on reading and discussion of Hispanic literary texts. Includes fiction, drama, essay, and poetry from Spain and Spanish America.
Reflective Narrative:
I had before learned a little about Hispanic Literature. I didn’t know nothing about central America literature. After taking this course I want to read and learn more about the Hispanic Literature. This course was teaching by Dra. Christine Fernandez. She gave us a lot of information about the narrative, poetry and drama. she showed her passion when explaining how to analyze a literature text, a poem. I am grateful I got to take this class with her. Now, it is easy to me to recognize who is the narrator in the text, why we say the narrator is omniscient and the main elements of a literature text. Besides, I am now capable of analyzing a poem. We made so much practice about the elements of Spanish versification and literary language. I loved the short histories of Magic Realism. For example, “La muñeca menor de Rosario Ferré” story that tells us what social classes were like, and the mix between the real and the fantastic. I learned so much about Hispanic literature. I also had to analyze a short story at the end of the semester. Please take a look at my essay based on the reading "Las Medias Rojas" by Emilia Pardo Bazan. This course helped me to complete MLO3 and MLO1
